FAQs

  • What's so good about your lights? And why should I pick Stars Holiday Lighting over the $50 lights at Home Depot?

We only install the nicest lights on the market. Our bulbs are rated at 50.000 hours and you can choose whatever color you like. We custom measure and cut lights to fit each home perfectly - there will not be extra hanging lights or tangled extension cords (even our extension cords are custom cut down to the inch). We also use several styles of clips to install based on the part of the roof. So if you want them on the gutter, shingles, roof ridge, everything will install perfectly!

  • Whats included in the cost?

Everything you would expect to have in a perfectly lit home without lifting a finger. After our estimate and consultation, we will custom cut and install every bulb exactly to your home. Lights are set on a timer and it is completely hands off for you. Starting January 2, we'll start climbing on roofs to take down lights while you drink hot chocolate. We store the lights during the offseason in a climate controlled unit and will inspect each light prior to installing the next year.

  • When is the best time to schedule?

October and November is the best time to get an estimate and schedule the installation. Lights typically start going up in late October through early December.

  • Where do you install lights? (This question has two parts)

Geographically, we install for homes and businesses in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. As far as where the lights go - rooflines, trees, bushes, columns, and pathways are the most common places.

  • What if my light goes out?

Call us and let us know. We will have them back up as soon as possible. We also drive by throughout the season ensuring everything stays up and running. Our installers stop installing after Dec 22nd.

  • How much does it cost?

Each home and/or building is different. For the most part, everything is priced by the foot. So a 3 story mansion will cost more than a single story ranch. Since the lights are custom cut to your home, the first year includes the cost of the material. Each subsequent year, the only cost is for install/removal. Another great thing about our service is how easy it is to add on new sections of the home each year. For example, it's great to do the front of your house the first year and then start adding sides and roof ridges each year after that. All we need is your address and we can send over a recommendation and estimate!

  • What kind of lights do you install?

We only install commercial grade bulbs and accessories (sockets, timers, etc.). We've dropped these bulbs 3 stories onto concrete, screwed them back in, and watched them light up. We only install this product because it's the best on the market and we can guarantee the quality and reliability. Our clips that hold the bulbs are individually fixed to each light ensuring a clean uniform fit on the entire home.

  • How long will my lights last?

Longer than you. Our bulbs are rated for 50,000 hours. On average, lights stay up from mid November to early January - we'll call it 60 days. Most lights are on a timer for 8 hours in the evening and 2 hours in the morning. After doing that math, your lights should last about 83 years. We warranty everything for 5 years but realistically, you can expect much more life than that.

  • Why choose Stars Holiday Lighting?

We only install the highest quality lights on the market. We'll work with you to figure out exactly the best install for your home and ensure it stays lit the entire season. If you’re looking for a completely hands-off custom holiday lighting solution from install/removal to storage, we are it.

  • Will you install my own lights?

This is a pretty common question we get. Unfortunately, we cannot install your own lights. We can guarantee our product because we supply it and know the quality. And our lights are custom cut and fit exactly to your house for a super clean installation. If something goes wrong with our lights, we take it upon ourselves to make it right as soon as possible. However, we cannot guarantee the quality of other lights.
